The house looks typically mid-century modern from the outside, but inside the interiors are typical Wright. The style is basically Usonian but takes advantage of the sun in a unique way. The polished concrete floors are Wright’s typical Cherokee Red, inscribed into squares. The house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and occupies 1,988 square feet. The small entry area keeps visitors from lingering there and moves them quickly inside. The central workspace is rectangular in shape and opens onto a terrace. The living room has one curved wall facing the promenade, and the wing containing bedrooms and bath have curved front and back walls.

Engineering Record, Landscapes Survey

Though concrete was still considered a new material in the 1920s, especially for home construction, Wright believed it had promising potential for affordable housing. He created a block construction system with patterned surfaces, which lended a unique textural appearance to both the exteriors and interiors of his residences. The concrete—a combination of gravel, granite and sand from the site—was hand-cast in aluminum molds to create blocks measuring 16”x 16” x 3.5” that were then woven together with steel rods, giving the textile block houses their name. The Ennis House is unusually monumental and vertical for a Wright residence, but when the architect completed it in 1924 he immediately considered it his favorite. The present floor lamp was the ideal design to illuminate the space.

Barnsdall was already planning to move out of her house and donate it to the city of Los Angeles. In January 1923, Frank Lloyd Wright moved into an office at 8228 Fountain Ave., in what is now West Hollywood. He had finished one house in Los Angeles, for the oil heiress Aline Barnsdall.

Millard House, 1923

If you only have a couple of hours to spare and you want to see a Frank Lloyd Wright home, opt for the Hollyhock House where you can take a guided tour. Built between 1919 and 1921, it represents Wright's efforts to develop a style of architecture for Southern California. The textile-block houses, in a way that has been under-explored, were also expressions of grief — of turning away from the world — for Wright. It wasn’t just the non-European qualities of Maya ruins that Wright picked up on and exploited.

Current owner Konrad Pearce is the original owner’s grandson and is working to restore the house. Silver sold it in 2002, and it 2015 it sold again to a “preservation-minded buyer for what is expected to be a record price for a Wright house,” as reported by Curbed LA. They go on to say that the LA Times reported the final sale price as $6.8 million. In 1927, Barnsdall donated the residence and its surrounding 11 acres of land to the City of Los Angeles so that it could be used as a public park in memory of her father. Hollyhock House is now part of the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation, and the park is used for art classes, working studios, a gallery, and a theatre – returning full circle to Barnsdall’s original ambitions for the site.

Views

The Sturges House is Usonian in style, uncluttered with only two bedrooms and one bath and less than 1,200 square feet. In fact, its 54-foot-long cantilevered terraces are almost larger than the living area. In the overhanging pergola roofline, you can see similarities to Fallingwater. A designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, the Sturges House soars above a central brick core and is cantilevered beyond its base, creating a sense of motion and an elegant streamlined shape recalling a stately yacht. Walls of brick and horizontal bands of timeless redwood are its underpinnings.

John Storer House: Home to Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture

The Freeman House located at 1962 Glencoe Way in Los Angeles is one of three textile block houses Wright designed in the Hollywood Hills in the 1920s. The regionalism of the houses, their response to the landscape, history and climate of Southern California, is at once their most powerful and most naive feature. Wright saw in pre-Columbian designs from Mexico the seed of a potential American architecture that didn’t rely on European precedent. Wright was especially keen on finding an alternative to L.A.’s ubiquitous Spanish-style buildings — to the red-tiled roofs that struck him as out of place here, that “give back the sunshine stained pink,” as he put it. The house was commissioned by Dr. John Storer, a homeopathic physician, who was a friend of Wright’s. The house is located on a steep hillside, and Wright designed it to take advantage of the views.

During the project, Wright and Barnsdall encountered a series of artistic differences. Wright was designing the Imperial Hotel in Japan at the same time and so allegedly left a lot of decisions to his son Lloyd Wright and the Austrian-born American soon-to-be-superstar architect Rudolph Schindler. Towards the end, Barnsdall fired Wright from the project and the house was finished by Schindler. The Hollyhock House, was commissioned by oil heiress Louise Aline Barnsdall and named after her favorite flower. The Hollyhock House was Wright’s first foray in Los Angeles and is the only of the eight houses here that you can tour. The Hollyhock House is part of a ambitious living and arts complex set on 36 acres that was to include an avant-garde theatre and cultural complex called Olive Grove.

Similar to the architecture of the house, the design of the lamp is at once simple in its form and tremendous in its visual power. The lamp’s strongly linear base matches the building’s impressive verticality, while its cantilevered square shade echoes the block configuration. Constructed from thin sheets of iron, the floor lamp also maintains a delicacy to balance the heaviness of the concrete. The shade’s frosted glass panels cast an atmospheric glow around the room, amplifying the feeling of having stepped into a temple that is simultaneously ancient and modern. The Millard House, also known as La Miniatura, located at 645 Prospect Crescent in Pasadena, sits on an acre of gardens and offers beautiful views.

After some devastating damage and a long search for the right buyer, the house was sold and was under renovation. Named after original owner Aline Barnsdall's favorite flower, Hollyhock House was just part of a living and arts complex set on 36 acres. It was Wright's first commission in Los Angeles and one of his first open floor plans.

Well, that lonely and ignored Storer House located on 8161 Hollywood Blvd caught Joel’s eye. He immediately started the renovation process to the original concept Mr. Wright had for this house of organic architecture. The renovation would be aided with the help of Mr. Wright’s grandson Eric Wright, as well as the then-president of the Los Angeles Conservancy.

They are connected by a complex L-shaped stairwell that partly rests on the fireplace. The kitchen and ancillary areas form another low block crowned by another terrace at living-room level.

Architecture of the day, which by the mid-1920s was largely Spanish Revival of one kind or another, and from everything Wright had done up until then. Wright named the compound Taliesin, after a hero and poet of Welsh lore. Los Angeles was booming; the city’s population, 577,000 in 1920, would reach 1.2 million by the end of the decade.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s connection to Arizona, the location of his personal winter home Taliesin West, runs deep, with his architectural influence seen all over the Valley. Here, PhD student David R. Richardson gives a brief overview of several of Wright’s most notable projects in the Grand Canyon state. Storer House is a Frank Lloyd Wright house in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles built in 1923.

It was also their tight-lipped, fortress-like and funereal character. “I remember how, as a boy, primitive American architecture — Toltec, Aztec, Mayan, Inca — stirred my wonder, excited my wishful admiration,” Wright wrote. Yet what historians and critics have generally failed to see is that they were inscrutable and even crypt-like not by accident but by design. They were places for Wright to bury the grief he’d been shouldering for nearly a decade, since Mamah Borthwick, the woman he’d abandoned his family and career for, was brutally murdered in 1914. The Storer House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. However, it is occasionally used for special events, such as tours and fundraisers. Samuel and Harriet Freeman fell in love with Wright’s architecture as guests at the Hollyhock House.

Storer House, Hollywood, California

Silver used the house as a private residence and as a location for several of his films, including “Lethal Weapon” and “Die Hard.” In 2006, Silver sold the house to a private buyer. Silver uses a modified design from one of the textile blocks of the Storer House for the logo of Silver Pictures. Situated on a rugged and remote site high in the Santa Monica Mountains, the Oboler complex is Wright’s only example of desert rubblestone construction in Southern California.

Larkin Company Administration Building, Buffalo

This is the first of the textile block house designed by Wright who was, at the time, experimenting with concrete building materials and using Mayan and Aztec symbols and designs to decorate them. The home was built on a steep hillside and was often compared to a Pompeiian villa at the time of its construction. Lush landscaping further enhanced its exoticism, providing an illusion of a ruin barely visible within its jungle environment. The work included adding a swimming pool which was in the original plans but never built. One of the house’s block designs was used as the Silver Pictures logo from 1991 to 2005. You can see it at the end of The Matrix Trilogy and Conspiracy Theory, among others.

Ennis House

Storer sold the house in 1927 and it was briefly rented to Rudolph Schindler's wife Pauline. FLW made a few alterations in the 1930s, Lloyd Wright oversaw a partial restoration in the 1970s, and then Silver bought the house in 1984. He gave it a thorough and sensitive restoration and added a pool that had been in the original plans. The listing today is classily stark, just one old photo and a quote from architecture critic Sally Woodbridge (if you're interested in this house at all, you don't need a sales pitch). Of the over 425 homes, commercial buildings and other works Frank Lloyd Wright has designed, residences are located in at least 38 states (including Hawaii). Meanwhile, the world would go on and enjoy movies such as “Die Hard,” “Lethal Weapon,” and “The Matrix,” making Joel Silver the hot new producer with the Midas touch.

One of them even served as the inspiration for the logo of film production company Silver Pictures, helmed by Joel Silver, who owned the Storer House for 17 years. This construction technique, traditional and experimental at once, gives the houses a monochromatic and monumental quality, a sense that they’re growing like trees directly from the earth. The walls are not so much covered with the Maya patterns as made of them; the usual division between structure and applied ornament falls away. Sand or decomposed granite from each building site was combined with Portland cement, pressed into square blocks and stamped by hand with a pre-Columbian pattern. The blocks were then stacked to form walls, and steel rods were woven through them for stability. Wright feuded bitterly with his son, Lloyd Wright, an architect who helped build many of his L.A.

Frank Lloyd Wright at 150: Why his Los Angeles houses deserve a closer look

The textile block design homes are examples of Wright's pre-Columbian inspired or early Modernist architecture. In 1986, the Freeman House was bequeathed to the USC School of Architecture. After the completion of renovations, the university plans to use it as a residence for distinguished visitors, as well as a setting for seminars and meetings.

Storer House: A Modernist Masterpiece in Los Angeles

At 55, Wright — a man whose life and career had been intimately bound up with the American Midwest, and Chicago in particular — was ready to reinvent himself as a West Coast architect. The interior of the Storer House is just as striking as the exterior. The walls are painted a deep red, and the furniture is made of dark wood. Brad Smith is an experienced interior designer and the founder of OmniHomeIdeas.com. With a Master's degree in Interior Design from Pratt Institute and a passion for creating safe and healthy living spaces, Brad shares his expert insights and innovative design ideas with our readers. His work is driven by the belief that home is where every story begins.

Instead he pushed himself to develop a radically new approach, building on tricky sites with an even trickier construction technique. It features a number of nods to Mayan architecture, including a horizontal band of carved ornament under the roofline. With its walled interior court, the house also owes a clear debt to Spanish Revival architecture.

In 1981, the John Storer House was put on the market to sell in its very dilapidated condition for $1 million. Unfortunately, this piece of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture was ignored. Please use the following steps to determine whether you need to fill out a call slip in the Prints and Photographs Reading Room to view the original item(s). In some cases, a surrogate (substitute image) is available, often in the form of a digital image, a copy print, or microfilm.

The Storer house is a private residence and not open to the public. Near the end of the 1920s, Spanish Revival architecture gave way across Los Angeles to a new sensibility that was neither brashly Modernist nor predictably old-fashioned. The fourth house, built for a widowed book dealer named Alice Millard and nicknamed by Wright “La Miniatura” for its compact size, rises in a eucalyptus grove on the western edge of Pasadena. It is the only one of the four textile-block houses to fully succeed as work of architecture. (“I would rather have built this small house than St. Peter’s in Rome,” Wright wrote.) The others were compromised in a range of ways. The exterior of the home is clad in horizontal redwood boards, which are complemented by large windows and a flat roof.

The Wilbur C. Pearce House located at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains is made of simple concrete block, with a dramatic, cantilevered roof covering the carport. Wilbur Pearce was a businessman who moved to Los Angeles in the mid-1940s to work for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Pearce and his wife, an art teacher had met Wright when they lived in Akron and talked with him about their move to California. When they got to California, they contacted him and commissioned a design. The Arch Oboler Gatehouse and Eleanor's Retreat buildings are the only example of desert rubblestone construction, the same style Wright used at Taliesin West in Scottsdale Arizona. The builders sourced materials from the surrounding area to make it feel as if the buildings were an extension of the desert floor thus the "rubblestone" moniker.

Some of the homes perch atop the Hollywood Hills with magnificent views of the city below. Others are in an elegant area of Pasadena that any architecture lover will enjoy visiting. Frank Lloyd Wright's Los Angeles houses are must-see gems in the famous metropolis of Los Angeles. The rest are private homes not open to the public, but that won't stop you from driving by and admiring the architecture from the street. You can see all of Frank Lloyd Wright's Los Angeles houses in a well-planned day. Unique among the textile block homes, Storer has four different patterns embedded into the blocks.

The home's interior features Wright's signature use of open spaces and natural materials, including redwood, brick, and concrete. The Storer House is considered to be one of the most iconic examples of modernist architecture in Los Angeles. It was built in 1923 by the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and it remains a stunning example of his unique style and approach to design. The Ennis House—a veritable Hollywood icon, with over 80 screen appearances—is the last and largest of Wright’s four Los Angeles-area “textile block” houses. This was Wright's first Usonian-style structure on the West Coast with a design that seems to grow out of the side of the hill. Usonian was a term Wright coined for more modest, middle-American homes.

She sent a letter to Wright’s third wife, Olgivanna, praising the house and mentioning the way the living room made her feel — and making a comparison to dramatic literature that could hardly have been more nuanced or perfect. He spent a year in Tuscany and Berlin with Mamah, looking closely at important architecture new and old. In addition to hiding from his wife and Mamah’s husband, Wright was overseeing the publication of a new monograph of his work, the so-called Wasmuth Portfolio. The Cheney house, built in 1903, was a broad-shouldered example of Wright’s influential Prairie Style architecture, its hipped roof extending protectively over a base of Roman brick. After Wright decided to close his office and run off to Europe with Mamah in the fall of 1909, when he was 42 and she was 40, his architectural philosophy began to shift in significant ways.

He told the Wall Street Journal that he started with a 3.5-acre parcel along the coast in 2017, and went about adding adjacent parcels one by one. The Sanctuary has been carefully developed and curated over the past 14 years by Bruce Kovner, a retired hedge fund manager. The Southern California median home prices rose 17% to a record high in July, though there are some signs the market is cooling. Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estates Agency holds the listing with Drew Fenton of Carolwood Estates. The aesthetic updates as well as the installation of new heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems costs tens of millions of dollars, the Winnicks told WSJ. "Demand for U.S. real estate is through the roof because the dollar is weak and people want real tangible assets." Loon Point has taken over the title of California’s most expensive home, set back in March by yet another multihome compound in Northern California. Still on the market for $135 million, the Woodside, CA, property consists of 74 acres and seven houses. Views are the main attraction in the other home, as arched walls of glass line the living spaces and take in views of the coast. The Carpinteria compound is owned by Bruce Kovner, an investor and hedge-fund manager who serves as chairman of the board of the Juilliard School.

With its 22 acres of lush landscaping, the land divides into five parcels – featuring two distinct estates, Ocean View and Bellevue – connected by a private road. These Mediterranean-style mansions are something to behold, but much of their grandeur remains hidden from the public underneath its terracotta tiled roof. Yet lenders and brokers hope the property is coming to market at an ideal time. Sales of properties priced at $10 million or more doubled in 2021 compared with 2019, before the pandemic, with a total of 312 sales, according to Miller Samuel.

The financier and philanthropist has also decked the abode out with an impressive collection of art, including pieces by Edward Hopper and Cy Twombly. To compile this list, we sourced the data from well-known real estate listing websites like Zillow, Trulia, and Redfin. Customers suggest using silicone grease when installing new filters to get a tight fit and prevent any leaks. If your main concern is scale build-up, both salt-based and salt-free water softeners will prevent hard minerals from sticking to your pipes and appliances. If, however, your intention is to completely eliminate hard water, a salt-based water softener will be best. This is the best way to know how much salt the softener needs to reach its maximum capacity. For example, if a water softener has a grain capacity of 32,000 and an efficiency of 4,800, it means that for every pound of salt, it removes 4,800 grains of water hardness.

Each type of hard water treatment system has its own unique benefits, and when you understand the differences between them, you might just find that one system is particularly ideal for your needs. However, before installing a water softener in your home, it's important to understand how water softeners work and the various types available. We'll break down the key differences between each softener to help you decide which type is appropriate for your needs.

Is it worth getting a water softener installed?

One of the most unique features of the GE GXSH40V is its blending valve, which allows you to adjust the hardness of your water to match your needs. Using the digital controller, you can adjust water hardness levels, conserving salt usage or increasing water softness to suit your preference. "Smart" and "efficient" are two ways to describe the functionality of this popular whole-house water softener.

The 10 Best Whole House Water Filter Systems of 2024

While salt-based systems are popular, they’re definitely not for everyone for the reasons we laid out above. This softener, however, rids your water of minerals without using any salt. It uses a 5 micron (very fine) sediment filter to take out the larger, harmful minerals while letting smaller beneficial ones fall through.

There is a wide range of water softeners to peruse and you are more than guaranteed to find the best solution for your household. All you need is some fundamental knowledge on how to choose a water softener to narrow down your search. If you have answered the questions above, you are more than ready to find your perfect water softening solution. Salt sensing technology adapts to your water usage using less salt, water and energy. Features quick and quiet regeneration plus power loss protection to save your settings.

It then passes by a water conditioner that helps prevent hard minerals build-up by crystallizing them. In the third stage, a copper-zinc and mineral stone reduces chlorine, heavy metals, bacteria and algae. Finally, in the last two stages, an activated carbon filter and a post-filter help reduce chemicals like pesticides and herbicides, alongside sediment leftovers and organic particles.

Electronic descalers are the final water conditioning option to consider. Again, these units don’t technically “soften” your water, and they don’t use salt, resin, or even a tank. For that reason, systems with excellent flow rates for their level of filtration were awarded higher points in this crucial category. NSF certification ensures that your water filtration system meets rigorous safety and construction standards. An NSF-approved system has been tested to ensure that it removes the contaminants it claims to, and won’t allow specific pollutants to pass through. SoftPro’s water filter will remove 99% of contaminants along with many other impurities using its catalytic carbon filter, which also eliminates minute metal materials and chloramine.

Water softeners can help by removing these minerals before the water comes out of your tap. Even if your city and state allow for salt using water softeners, you may want to find a more environmentally friendly option. You use it the same way you would salt in the same type of water softener.

Your grains per gallon is an indication of the concentration of calcium and magnesium minerals in your water. A whole house water filter needs to be installed near your water main shutoff, which is typically in the basement or a utility closet. However, the reason isn’t often because the plumbing is more complex, but correctly setting up the filtration requires additional system knowledge.

Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about water softeners. After installing a water softener, its salt levels should be checked every 4 to 6 weeks. If the salt level drops, then hard water will begin to return to the home’s water system. If it’s going to be used for these purposes, the bypass valve will divert the flow of water around the softener and back into the pipes. Once complete, the bypass valve can be closed, restoring the flow of water through the softener.

Filter changes and maintenance determine the overall convenience and affordability of a whole house filtration system. Filter lifespans were evaluated against their level of filtration and the average number of months it will last with regular use. As a general rule, the finer the filter media, the more often you’ll need to swap filters for a fresh one. For instance, a five-micron filter will need replacement more often than a 20-micron one.

Most plumbers charge around $200 for standard water softener installation. Many water softeners can be installed by the homeowner – but you have to be pretty competent at DIY to consider installing a softener yourself. Reading customer reviews will give you a good idea of how a softening system performs in reality. You can also read impartial reviews written by experts, like the reviews found on WaterFilterGuru. 👉 Our comprehensive guide on testing water hardness covers everything you need to know on the subject. City water is treated against contamination by heavy metals, biological presence, sediments and some mineral content. Activated charcoal and UV light purification can be useful for removing any existing pollutants and microorganisms still present or added to the water. The final stage of water purification destroys or eliminates microorganisms like viruses and bacteria. A reverse osmosis system or exposure to ultraviolet light (UV) can accomplish this level of purification by capturing or destroying biological contaminants on a molecular level. This Pentair system tends to run on the higher end of cost, and installation might be tougher for the average DIYer.

Thinking it was simply a condition I would have to deal with forever, I was astonished when I went to college and my skin completely cleared and softened. Whether you’re like me or concerned about mineral buildup in your pipes, a water softener is a great way to go easier on your skin and your home. Water softeners are an excellent option for homes with light to heavy hard water, which can result in clogged pipes and leaky faucets and can degrade water-based appliances. Salt-free water softeners have a template-assisted crystallization system consisting of polymeric beads that hold microscopic nucleation sites. When heavy minerals attach to these sites, they begin to form into crystals through a neutralization process.

What size water softener do I need?

Or check out our best portable option, On The Go Double Standard Water Softener, which works in a variety of places like RVs, boats, buses, and more. We discovered that water softener capacity is usually indicated by how many particles the system can filter before needing a regeneration cycle. An average-sized water softener for three to four-person households is usually in the range of 32,000 to 40,000 grains. The bigger the grain capacity, the fewer number of times a softener has to regenerate (which saves water). You can have a lower grain capacity if you have a water softener with a short regeneration cycle.

This filter uses reverse osmosis to remove harmful contaminants and then replaces beneficial minerals before releasing it back into your pipes, providing you with good tasting, clean water. It’s designed for mounting under the sink but can be connected next to your fridge if you get drinking water from there. Reviewers claimed that installation was a breeze, which avoids the extra cost of having a professional install it for you. Water softeners could seem like a frivolous expense, particularly if you haven’t felt the effects of hard water. Growing up, I suffered from eczema that would worsen in the colder months.

Magnetic water softeners take up the least amount of space and can be installed without cutting into plumbing. Typically, these smaller softeners can be mounted directly on the pipe and do not interfere with floor space. These softeners are the best option to save space in smaller homes, RVs, or apartments. Instead, they use a magnetic field to strip negative or positive ions from heavy minerals, neutralizing them.

In addition, they also won't prevent scaling in sitting water, such as in a water heater. The manufacturer states that it's best for households with a maximum of four people, so it’s on the smaller side of capacity. But it’s an excellent pick for well water if you’re experiencing iron buildup or staining.

We take ultimate responsibility for the content of our publications. According to TikToker @beautyforeverybody, E.l.f Cosmetics’ Putty Blush is a perfect switch out for NARS’ Air Matte Blush, thanks to their similar formulas and colour options.

It's a gel-based highlighter that can be blended beneath your foundation for a serious glow, or dabbed on your cheekbones over your foundation and concealer for a more targeted highlight. It does have a thicker texture and a more pronounced shimmer than the original Charlotte Tilbury, which makes it perfect for those who like a bit more glimmer from their highlight. For its luxe-looking packaging and more natural glow, we still prefer the Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter.

Editor's Favorites

This Charlotte Tilbury dupe minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines, ensuring a smooth, luminous finish without any cakiness. This fan-favorite lipstick comes in 24 shades, featuring a creamy, hydrating formula that glides on smoothly for full coverage in just one swipe. This Maybelline dupe takes the cake for being a primer, concealer, highlighter, and BB cream in one. The self-adjusting claim might sound like magic, but many users find it lives up to the hype. And personally, I’m a huge fan of the applicator over the Charlotte Tilbury one.

“For something to make your makeup more long-lasting, Collection’s Power Gel Primer is a Milk Hydro Grip dupe. The real thing is a painful £35, whereas Collection’s is just £7.99. "Elf’s Whoa Glow is SPF 30, and is just £13.99 compared to Supergoop’s £32 price tag," she said. However, knowing it's an "absolute essential" all year round, she told how she was delighted to find a dupe for the TikTok famous Supergoop Glowscreen at Superdrug.

No, it’s definitely still not a foundation, but it can help even out your skin tone while giving you a natural-looking highlight at the same time. Charlotte Tilbury Medium (4) Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44.00 for 30.00 oz.) is a light-medium beige with warm, golden undertones and a luminous sheen. This was the least warm-toned shade that I've swatched within the formula, so I could see it being more versatile across undertones as a result. The doe-foot applicator made getting just a touch out easier for highlighting the high points of the face, though it was less useful for getting product for mixing in. Dries down to an opaque waterproof finish very quickly, which means you need to get it right the first time. Not buildable because it’s impossible to add a second coat once it dries.

Formulated for all skin types, this luxe cream is lightweight and hydrating and plumps, smooths, and improves skin radiance. Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Infinite Mattifying Longwear Makeup Fixing Spray (what a long name!!!) is a makeup setting spray that creates a matte finish and lasts up to 16 hours. Flower Beauty Light Illusion Perfecting Powder (shown in the shade Beige) is a silky, lightweight powder that creates a flawless, radiant complexion. The treated pigments are designed to adhere to your skin uniformly, and the creamy formula won’t cake or settle into fine lines.

From the packaging to the thick doe foot applicator, reviews claim that the Camo Concealer’s formula is also incredibly similar, leaving minimal to no creasing under the eyes. Beth Gillette is the beauty editor at Cosmopolitan with four years of experience researching, writing, and editing makeup stories that range from best smudge-proof eyeliners to Native American makeup brands. She’s an authority in all makeup categories, but is an expert when it comes to Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter dupes after years of trying products to find a less expensive alternative. She regularly tests and analyzes makeup for efficacy, while working with the industry’s top makeup artists and dermatologists to assess new formulas and brands. This rose-gold (with silver light) liquid highlighter innovates with light-reflecting pearls and rose gold pigments, morphing seamlessly with your skin tone for a radiant finish.

The lightweight, buildable formula contains 2% squalane and sodium hyaluronate (the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid), key ingredients that ensure skin hydration and comfort. This liquid contour wand is all about a lightweight, buildable contour and is dispensed with a cushion applicator for a pro-like blend and sculpt. The Pillow Talk Original is a natural nude-mauve-brown with a matte finish. It’s incredibly lightweight and super hydrating, making your lips feel pampered all day long.

It’s not pigmented enough for us to describe it as having coverage, but its blurring, light-reflecting properties make skin tone look more even. As far as dupes go, E.l.f Cosmetics’ take on NARS cult-favourite Laguna bronzer isn’t an exact match, but hey, if you’re looking to save some coins, it’s a very close counterpart. While E.l.f Cosmetics’ offering is a touch on the lighter side, NARS’ Laguna also has a slight shimmer built into the formula.

This weightless, micro-fine Charlotte Tilbury setting spray dupe not only extends your makeup wear but also blurs imperfections for a flawless look. This buildable highlighter adapts to your needs, delivering anything from a gentle daytime shimmer to an intense evening dazzle. These add a dry feel to your skin and let you blend the contour effortlessly for a flawless finish. NYX Matte Bronzer comes in five shades, so you can pick the one that perfectly complements your skin tone and the kind of glow you’re going for. Its radiant peachy-pink glow with a hint of shimmer is just like Charlotte Tilbury’s Pinkgasm. Megaglo Makeup Stick’s cream-to-powder formula is a breeze to apply, blend, and control.

It covers so well and it gives you the best hydration all while supplying SPF protection. The elf camo CC cream has the same coverage with a good SPF protection as well at a fraction of the price.
